Literary Festivals 2010

175-the-bookman-q85-359x499Dreaming, as one does, of travel and always thinking about books and reading, Fiction Focus has compiled a  far-from-complete list of 2010 literary festivals that bring together two of life’s most rewarding pursuits. Happy to add others if you bring them to our attention.

Please note that not all of the above websites contain 2010 content, although the dates are correct at the time of publication.

Oh for the Lotto life!

Thanks Simon. Sounds fantastic. Because it’s just finished it seems to have dropped off the Auckland festival events calendar. Are you aware of a website? Dates probably not yet firm either. I will add to the bare bones when I have more info. Regards, Judi

Swancon, the WA science fiction and fantasy convention (Australia’s longest running state convention), takes place on the Easter long weekend each year. It’s kind of the baby version of Aussiecon!

Confirmed guests for 2010 include authors Scott Sigler and Ian Irvine. 1-5 April, All Seasons Perth Hotel, Northbridge.

Swancon the following year, 2011, is also hosting the 50th Australian convention, Natcon, and will be bigger than ever, so mark that date as well! (Easter 2011 runs into ANZAC Day…)

Thanks, Tehani. Consider it added. Sounds great, too. Judi

March 12-14, 2010 is the Tucson Festival of Books. More information can be found on the Worlds of Words Web site ( http://wowlit.org/events/bookfest/ ), including a link to the official Web site. We are super excited about how the children’s and adolescent authors are shaping up. I’ll be there for sure and in the meantime, I’ll dream about a few of these others you’ve listed.

We all need a year off and a round the world ticket, Rebecca. Thanks for this addition. I know there’s a lot happening in North America, so keep the sugestions rolling, folks. What started as a germ of an idea is turning into a really useful resource (and a lot of dreaming. If only …)
