Another Printz speech online
This time it’s E. Lockhart for The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks, which was a Printz Honor Book in 2009. Although we have been hearing about this title for a long time, it inexplicably has not been released in Australia.
Lockhart’s speech, in which she discusses the influences that shaped the novel, can be viewed here. And as we can’t bring you a local review, here’s one from the New York Times. Sounds good – any Australian publishers interested? For all we know it might already be in the pipeline.
There will be another Printz speech soon – the only ones remaining are the vision of speeches by Margo and Melina. We’ll let you know – about a fortnight to wait for the first of these, we’re guessing.

Do you ever succumb and go to amazon or fishpond and just get the US version? I have done that so I can get my hands on Barry Lyga and also for John Green’s ‘Abundance of Katherines’. I am tempted with this Frankie one and there’s Lyga’s new one, ‘Goth Girl Rising’ that doesn’t have a Aust distributer/publisher… It’s tricky, but I want to have them NOW!

Couldn’t agree more at a personal level, Trish, and yes, succumb I do, and a bit too often for my Paypal account’s liking at times! Just such a read-me, read-me, read-ME pile arrived last week. However we know that there are many schools, which for policy reasons, don’t have such an option, so we feel it only fair to let them know Australian distribution dates (or not) and the TLs can then decide what path to take if they want a hard-to-get-locally title in their library.
