ACLA

There’s a curiously snide tone to Rosemary Sorensen’s lead item in The Australian’s Overflow column today as she notes the forthcoming Australian Children’s Literature Alliance. ACLA was set up on 19 November, according to a short piece in Australian Bookseller and Publisher. One of its goals is the creation of a national children’s laureate, along the lines of those posts in the UK and USA. With Ann James and Libby Gleeson on board, there is good reason to hope that this could soon become reality.

The ACLA website is being funded by the Australia Council, but no news of when it might be online. It’s early days.
