Thanks Mr Pullman, thanks Mr Rosen
We are a little late with this one, but it’s still worth noting.
Philip Pullman, the bestselling author, has warned a school that it will become a ‘byword for philistinism and ignorance’ if it goes ahead with the closure of its library.

The sad thing is this is not just happening overseas.
I spoke with the TL of one of the local high schools yesterday. She’s just been told that because they are embarking on the laptop program (thanks to Rudd funding) the principal has decided to get rid of all the non-fiction books in the library. They won’t need them! The students will access all their information online.
How do such short sighted decisions get passed and why hasn’t anyone done their homework before making such decisions? There is rationalization and then there is plain rash!
